In most cases, it’s appropriate to start by seeing a General Practitioner (GP).
A GP can assess a wide range of skin concerns, including new or changing spots, rashes, and other common conditions. They can also perform skin checks and manage many issues directly.
If your condition requires more specialised assessment or treatment, your GP can then refer you to a dermatologist.
Starting with a GP is often the most straightforward way to have your skin concern assessed and to determine whether specialist care is needed.
